To be honest I hate Johan Axelsson's voice. His voice is like a barking of a dog – or whatever… I hate it and that's but I cant say the same about music of Liiva band. Melodic death metal proposed by HEARSE is really brutal and old ARCH ENEMY influented and that is obvious because Liiva was the first singer and guitarist of ARCH ENEMY. Music direction of HEARSE is to play brutal and technical death metal with a melody factor. These aims are well done – and surely band has lot of fans, including old ARCH ENEMY fans.
Brutallity, technique, melody and… space these are the features of HEARSE vision of melodic death metal. Awesome sound production and a big package of memorable riffing these are the highlights of the whole album. Mostly I recommend this album to fans of early ARCH ENEMY era – definately they would love this cd.
Disadvantages? For me vocals of Liiva and too much brutallity and insanity in second half of the album, lack of ultra catchy solo and… computer done art work.
Without no doubt if you are a fan of ARCH ENEMY you will love this cd besides all disadvantages.
