IN BATTLE has a general theme and idea that is really awesome and great in theory, but somehow it s managed to do not fit like it should be with their latest release Kingdom Of Fear. Vikings, death metal, battles, and scandinavian mitology. All of this works in the imagery sense, reminding me of an Amon Amarth replica or something similar to an actual Viking metal album but unfortunately all this ingredients are not as good as they should be.
Ultra brutal blast beating mixed with quite tech guitar riffage and brutal low pitched/scremed/vocals is a typical example of IN BATTLE song. Sometimes it remindes me DECAPITATED but… Polish brutal metallers are way better than IN BATTLE, even if they are playing really technical and brutal metal – it does not have any soul.
Mostly this album is mindbreaking and crushing but the almost no-sense of melody and non catchyness makes this album sentenced for vanish and to be forgotten.
I want to mention the extremely awesome parts (not blast beats) of Nils Fjellström he is high skilled and his drum patterns for example in The Wandering One are really flashy.
Riffage of Hasse Karlsson is also quite well in a fact that he is the only one guitarist in band (check '”Raven Calls).
To sum up… only for scandinavian brutal metal fans….
