SHAI HULUD Announces Tour with New Found Glory

Shai Hulud will be taking the spot of recently disbanded Verses on New Found Glory’s upcoming headlining tour with Bayside & Set Your Goals. For those unaware, Chad Gilbert of NFG is an original member of Hulud…so he may or may not be joining them on stage… updates straight from the sources (Matt Fox & Chad Gilbert) are below.

“Greetings Programettes,
You must have been worried sick. It's been what… a while, no? Please accept our humblest apologies for our lack of writings and updates. Worry not, we're just fine and wearing the same underwear since the last time you heard from us. We hope you are as well.

We've had a lot of great experiences the past few months, many of which we meant to immediately document on cyberspace, but eBay often gets in the way. All that Planet of the Apes and Micronauts stuff to drool over; that takes up a lot of time, and quite a bit of drool. But I digress. We'll get to some of the older bits after we comment on current and upcoming happenings because we can't very well live in the past anymore than we already do. Not without a Delorean. And jigawatts. We'll need jigawatts. 1.21 to be exact.

Continuing our mission to relentlessly tour, and damage and drive our bodies and van straight into the ground, we have two months worth of two tours to announce. We'll be out supporting Stick To Your Guns along with In Fear And Faith and Stray From The Path for just about two weeks starting in early March. A righteous run you say? Indeed, but wait there's more. Directly after our stint with the aforementioned, we join up with Set Your Goals and Bayside to assist them in supporting A New Found Glory (minus the “A”) as they support their forthcoming album Not Without A Fight. Now that's not something you see every day! For those of you who might not know, New Found Glory and Shai Hulud are more closely related than you might realize: we both started in South Florida back in the 90's together, we always stayed friendly and in touch, and early on even shared a member. As unique as the pairing may seem, it's also a perfect fit – and that's not mentioning NFG's clear and obvious ties to the hardcore scene. Chad Gilbert has an original press of Start Today on vinyl… and you don't. So there. Not so harder-core-than-thou now, eh brown cow?

We know what you're wondering. The answer is……………… quite possibly. There are no definitive plans for Captain Straight Edge a.k.a. Chadball to hop on the mic and sing a song with us, however, it's certainly not out of the question. We in Shai Hulud would be as pinkly tickled as yourselves to have Chad share the stage with us. As always, the invitation is there. We'll enjoy the moment if and when it arrives. Oh, the torture of uncertainty.

Note from Chad of New Found Glory:

“Hello Party People,
As most of you already know, the band VERSE, who was meant to open our “Not Without A Fight” tour has broken up. We were excited to tour with them but that’s life. We have been receiving tons of messages from people asking us about who are we replacing Verse with. Since tickets were already on sale we feel it is only fair to replace them with a band from a similar genre. That way kids who listen to Verse won’t be too disappointed…plus we feel it makes for a better show to have a more diverse lineup.

Now to announce the band:
The band that will replace Verse will be none other than SHAI HULUD!! They are a fellow Floridian band and we grew up in the South Florida scene playing shows side by side. We felt this would be an interesting and fun replacement. They have an awesome album that came out recently called MISANTHROPY PURE.

Check it!

For those of you that could be wondering, I might make an appearance on the mic but I can’t promise or commit to anything. Shai Hulud's singer rules anyway.

Your friend always,
Chad”

More from Matt Fox:
“Them's the plans for the next couple months anyway. More plans will post here in the near future. How about yourselves, anyone doing anything exciting the next couple of months? Do tell! Anyone excited for Joaquin Pheonix's Hip Hop project? Yeah, us too. Like really. Like… (yawn)… really…

Hey! We're always looking to sleep somewhere other than a hotel while on tour. Drop us a line if your floor desperately needs to be crashed on by your homeboys in Shai Hulud. You'll want us to shower, that's for sure. You'll never get a better chance to find out exactly how boring we are until we crash at your place. If we're feeling really crazy, we might even ask you to play a board game. Matt Fletcher might tell a story from his teenage years, and Matt Fox, well, he's been known to drink a Cherry Coke after midnight. Animals. Don't miss this rare opportunity to get up close and personal with us. We promise you, at the very least, great conversations about Thin Lizzy, the Miami Dolphins, and Nuclear Assault, the best in the biz. Get in touch. Our operators are standing by.”
