After 3 EPs and ten years of existence, these Frenchmen have released their homonymous debut album, influenced, in their own words, by earlier thrash and death metal works. To me, this is quite in the mood of the recent French Extreme Metal Wave (I just thought up that thing right now), which includes acts such as Gojira and Eryn Non Dae.
Firstable, these guys have created a character, on which their music is based, and it is supposed to represent their attitudes and ideas in a mythical way: Jon de Grimpelat, honored on track 12. He is a professor with a serial killer alter-ego who cleans the earth from shit-people.
Talking of music, this record is harsh and abrasive and melodic at the same time, (from there it could be deemed Extreme) sometimes very close to Gothenburg Metal, but also to the above mentioned French Extreme Metal, and of course, it displays lots of progressive pace-changing sparks to fit this Extreme style.
On the other hand, all scattered interludes on this album are good enough to support the rest of the songs, so, each track is worth a chance. However, to me this is an 'in crescendo', the second half is broadly superior, and thus, more attractive. Regarding the cover art, well, it's just too vague and poor, doesn't match with the content.
To conclude, I would say that France is kicking ass through these Metal bands, and presumably, we might have more and more to listen to from there with the passing of time.
