Best tracks: everything, but Lilith is especially a killer
Ruins Of Tomorrow – a band, whose situation I do not understand. They were formed in 2005 and even though they released an EP called “In This Horror”(which, in my opinion, contains material worthy of a contract with a major label) in 2010 – they remain unnoticed and unappreciated, still in the underground. The subject of the lyrics refers to killing, horror, etc., as it often happens in the genre. 😉
EP opens with a climatic intro on a keyboard, it introduces a sense of anxiety and a feeling of calmness before the storm. After a while, the mentioned storm arrives, an absolute killer, a song called Lilith. The band has done well putting this song right after the intro, it attracts attention and forces you to familiarize yourself with the rest of the material. What's so special about it? Great riffs, showing us a perfect mix of brutallity and melody, sounding a bit like TBDM, at other times more like a Suicide Silence. In addition to this, we have brilliant breakdowns, a pretty decent drummer, and two great vocalists using scream, growl and squeal. We have everything that any self-respecting deathcore/modern death metal band should represent 😉 The following tracks are not any worse, they show a very equal level. Rest of the EP has a similar scenario for us, as in that mentioned track, it is fast and melodic, technical and brutal. We can also hear a little keyboard insert. While listening to “In This Horror”, one thing is certain – we won't experience boredom. This disc is very pleasant to listen to, and not only during the first time.
I wanted to find something that has gone wrong, but frankly, I found no such thing. Mastering is very decent, cover of EP is nicely presented too. Personally, I'm waiting for some new material from RUINS OF TOMORROW, I wonder if they still have so many good ideas to make another material as good as “In This Horror”. To sum up – I recommend this material to all fans of modern genres, but also to people, who are more into typical death metal, a little breath of fresh air does not hurt. 😉
