Bone-jarring and chest-crushing; if death had a soundtrack, The Dagger and the Chalice (Dark Descent Records) would be it. Hailing from Finland, Corpsessed's brand of spine-tingling death metal will not disappoint. Six tracks, 24 minutes, The Dagger and the Chalice is pure death metal. No gimmicks, no keyboards, just rotten death metal the way it should be. This release features an eight-page booklet on extra thick matte finish paper complete with art from Alexander “Bad News” Brown. The album will be released on May 12th.

CORPSESSED was spawned from putrescent slime in 2007, after the dissolution of an earlier project Skullfucker. Vocalist Niko Matilainen (Skullfucker), guitarist Matti Mäkelä (Tyranny, Wormphlegm) and drummer Jussi-Pekka Manner (Skullfucker, Pohjoinen Kuri) were joined by guitarist Jyri Lustig (Cardinals Folly) and the (de)composing of morbid death metal tunes began at the rotting houses of the Järvenpää delta-area.

The group's original bass player Mikko Mäkelä disappeared in unknown circumstances, but was replaced in 2009 by Mikko Pöllä (Azure).

Look for CORPSESSED's debut EP out May 12th on Dark Decent Records, with vinyl treatment coming courtesy of Dark Descent and Me Saco Un Ojo later this year.
