Yesterday, overcast morning, I received by mail the latest work of Krakow town crew – Saratan. The band is already on our metal yard quite a few years. They started in 2006 and at the moment, recorded three full-length discs. I must admit that this is my first encounter with the music of guys from Krakow and is the most promising meeting. So I will not make reference to previous releases because I dont now them. So I familiarize you my feelings after repeatedly hearing their latest work.
In general, I was expected metal classic slaughterhouses, and here what a nice surprise. Saratan plays in the line of thrash / death metal, weaving in his playing a lot of progressive and ethnic flavors. Classic trash patents, of which there are a whole lot, interspersed with death / metal kick ass blasts and brutal vocals . You can hear that, gentlemen familiarity with metal music is very good. So we have a traditional thrash riffs stinking such as Slayer and Sepultura from their earlier period, lots of death metal parts, similar to the team of Karl Sanders – Nile. It also does not lack a bit of licks in the style of modern metal bands such as: Mesuggah or Gojira, but they are not intrusive, complementing sensational sound. But the most important advantage of this music, which shows great potential and originality are ethnic moments, evocative music of the Middle East. Ritual drums and beautiful vocals featuring guest vocalists, lots of solos with an oriental taste, and the use of acoustic guitar and piano, give this publishing hot, hellish atmosphere, which takes us into areas of the ancient lands swathed ominous hot winds and tons of sand. Satan does not come from hell, but from the hot desert. You also can not forget about a very good play of the rhythm section – drummer slaying quick blasts, while he great finds in quieter parts. Production of the album is at a very high level, powerful and very clear, allowing you to capture all the flavors that give it a lot of interesting sounds of colours and provide a broad-minded music guys who are well aware that the same banging the strings, even though it has its charm and a host of audience, it is not the most important thing to record a good album, which will come back again and again to our ears.
Saratan recorded a sensational material, very modern, drawing from many musical genres.
This path leads from the metal, the progression to the ritual of ethnic music. I think you could go ahead and put the disc Marty Xwar alongside Polish artists from the circle of metal such as: Behemoth, Vader or Decapitated. Publisher brilliant, for all who are looking for more than just simple metal blasts in hard an heavy music. Amen.
