After long time brake in writing on MetalCentre webzine from some technical problem reasons, i`m back to do reviews with band Hammerdrone from Canada with their first Ep called – “A Demon Rising”. This new crew from northern side of our globe, began to play in year 2010, creating very old school sort of metal music, it means trash-death style with lots of melodies, limitless energy and passion to heavy and destructive sounds.
Four concrete song, which that do not stay beyond off metal music frames, attack our ears by heaviness and brutality, not giving us time for long and deep breathe. Classic trash metal patents maintained in middle tempos, blend with extreme death metal with Swedish influences, causing fast heartbeat and big wide smile on our faces. Great technical riffs with lots of melodic accents, evocative of heavy metal style of guitar type of play, properly brutal and strong growling, watchful and finesse rhythm section, sweep circle of musicians interest. We can look here a lots of references to historical bands, namely we can find aggression of Slayer and our native death metal legend Vader and also specific riffs of Scandinavian metal scene, some of Testament influences as well and melodic style of Iron Maiden or Manowar, because Hammerdrone is just strictly and pure sort of metal madness. Guys from Canada take all good things from great pattern of metal, not trying to be experimenters, preferring fun in sound in the same time they strike a lots of dark and furious energy. Heavy death metal blasts and middle tempos, are mixed with melodic guitar passages and solos, which together with raw and selective album production kick our asses properly. Solid quarter of an hour of metal bulldozer, executive and technically correct, who certainly did not disappoint fans of this metal type of style. This music is a little back in time and space, but it has charm, enthusiasm and countless creative passion.
All those who indulge in this kind of atmosphere, I'm sure few people will like Hammerdrone and with next beer will be enjoy each sound coming from the speakers. This is only the first release, so maybe in the future music will develop more original in a different direction. For all fans of old school metal this is the most tasty treat. They play with passion, sincerity and joy, so I'll wait for a full studio album, maybe guys from Hammerdrone will show more interesting solutions and arrangement in their style.
