Way To End is another proposition from Ladlo productions record label catalog for year 2013, when I recently described a promising debut – Regarde Les Hommes Tomber. Band was formed in year 2006, serving us three years later their first full album – “Desecrated Internal Journey” moreover, very well accepted in metal music society, collecting lots of favorable opinions and reviews. French metal bands are always surprised by large dose of originality and unconventional compositional solutions and specific climate, not different in this time, because guys from Way To End likes to catch out listener, playing grated convention of black metal in a delicious way.
Listeners who are want of another ultra fast and brutal storm in honor of the black king can quietly let go from the record, or to switch to a completely different emotional impressions. Way to End does not play raw black metal, focusing more on the production of non-conventional, almost theatrical atmosphere of the community, treating black metal as a flexible form, leading listener with his own vision of the blasphemous world, undeniably more dark and sick than the bands that focus exclusively on fast blasts and burial type of sound
Album begins with a short composition, very delicate and inconspicuous, while giving adequate outline atmospheric, subtly introducing to the main part. Crossing another minute, we come across a songs without classic construction, filled with lots of musical influences and climate change. There are many classical music influences here, manifesting itself in melodic composition, black metal guitars do not play powerfully and harshly, but rather perfectly blend in with all the songs, creating even jazz type of layouts. Generally, the structure of songs are terribly hard shredded, sometimes sounding tight schizophrenic. Listening to this album I have the impression that guys from band had to work on his creation with great care, since every sound has the unbridled chaos of your own place, changing the apparent mess into something much more stable. Each of the four musicians provide the vocals on the album, introducing even more spaced out a multitude of sensations. The brutal growls and moans mix with the clean singing, sometimes solemn and pathetic, and at other times very lyrical. Guitar, rhythm section and those vocals are simply a class by itself, even several times heard the album does not allow for embracing the music as a whole. A multitude of the guitar, solos, classical accretions and licks rhythm section allows me to the knees completly. Electric guitars perfectly complimented by moments of acoustic, folk, and through careful introduction and use of instruments such as: theremin. That is the real art!. Way To End reminds me of Norwegian black metal acts from the nineties, namely the music of such bands like: Emperor and Arcturus, the same licentiousness arrangement, specific theatrical and artistic level. The lyrics are in French which gives the album even more climate weather. Sophisticated and mystical musical journey, where the devil is not characterized as a powerful ruler with horns and hooves living in the depths of hell, just as the fallen angel figure in a tuxedo, mask and cylinder on the head, which traverses the streets of Paris at night, drunk with strong red wine, in search century of debauchery and degradation of human encountered encouraging people to fulfill their innermost desires.
“Various Shade Of Black” is an absolute obligation for fans of avant-garde metal, as well as for people who are looking for originality in music, unpredictability and perdition in the sounds. Way To End recorded an album a unique, dark and sinister as well and also really beautiful and tasteful. Further proof that metal music is really good, still forming its majestic history. All those who miss for black metal of the nineties, they will fall in delight. Superb album, recommended!
