Long time I have not heard such a good grindcore act, without unnecessary frills, sterile manufacturing and brazen promotion, just pure grindcore, filthy, uncompromising, without metal influences, racial, growing out from punk tradition. This music offers for us French crew named Blockheads. Musicians are not new to the field, recorded including the latest four LP`s , though it must be admitted that for more than twenty years of existence, it is not a big achievements, and can be a good thing for the music itself and its values . After a five year break since the last album – ” Shapes Of Misery ' band are back with a new, great album called – ” This World Is Dead ” .
The album features twenty-five fast and short compositions oscillate in the range of one to two minutes, the composition uncompromising, brutal and dirty at the same time. There are not to much moments of respite, music going at breakneck speed, without falling into the shallows, serving us very amplification armageddon. The radicalism of this album quite shocking, and the energy emanating from him is madness in its pure form. Guys from Blockheads play what they feel, and as they go, and they go really amazing, just because it sounds as if recorded on one session, without production nuances and concerns about the environment receiving the same fans. The authenticity and attitude is another advantage of the French. At the ” This World Is Dead ” we do not find that interesting performances breakneck solos, this music is a straight kick to the groin, strong and pretty damn painful. All songs cut like a butcher knife, very deep and very precisely. The only exception is the last full song ” Trial Of The Dead “, where the music turns into areas of sludge and doom metal, offering us a second breath and reflect after this wild storm, while sensational closing the album. Production of the album is appropriately selected, dirty, rotten and organic, without falling into technical masturbation, yet very expressive and meaty at the same time.
In summary, Blockheads recorded a very good piece of musical extremes, and in this kind of genre quite ideal, where an ultra high-speed and heavy grindcore boldly refers to its origins, when playing the lead in the crust punk marked the uncompromising power and energy transfer involved and not care about crystal, spayed production, taking all the magic of this kind of extreme madness . Forty minutes of uncompromising stuff for all fans of early Napalm Death and Extreme Noise Terror .
