About EVRA

Only 2 years into their existence, the ambitious Copenhagen quintet EVRA are preparing to release their debut full length “Lightbearer” on August 21st.

The album was recorded and mixed by Lewis Johns at The Ranch Production House in Southampton, England and mastered by Brad Boatwright at Audio Siege in Portland, Oregon. The record is the vessel for the bands aspirations towards making a lasting name for themselves abroad as much as in Denmark, enlisting the services of professionals that have formerly worked with internationally renowned bands like Funeral For A Friend, Code Orange, Defeater, Sleep and Converge (to name a few). The release will also feature artwork by Plastic Kid aka. Jakob Printzlau, whose videos and artwork have previously helped define the visual identities of bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Volbeat and I Killed The Prom Queen.

Stylistically, EVRA aims to fuse the qualities of two genres that have enjoyed widespread respect and popularity in the heavy music scenes of recent years: Stoner and hardcore. Citing influences from Black Sabbath, Pallbearer and Graveyard over to Gallows, Every Time I Die and While She Sleeps, the bands sound marries heavy, yet groovy riffage to the punishing tempos and urgent energy of chaotic hardcore shows. Focus is on songwriting that is both catchy and straight to the point, and LIGHTBEARER delivers 9 tracks of the bands unique brand of ferocity in 30 short but sweet minutes.

The combination of old and new stylistic tendencies come together in songs that deal with individual freedom and its frequent collisions with the expectations of a conform society. With the album title translating to the name of the devil himself, Lucifer, EVRAs songs take departure in both occult themes as well as in personal stories about depression and abuse of drugs and alcohol, pushing through the darkness to find hope and a sense of personal freedom on the other side.

Following the release of LIGHTBEARER, EVRA will play live extensively in 2015, hitting Denmark and Germany as hard as possible, with all band members making ready to perform the album to all relevant live audiences. To realise their goals, the members have made sure to create their own network of both bookers and other European musicians, and they will be booking their shows themselves, drawing on the experience they have already gathered both by touring Europe alongside fellow Danish band HEXIS in 2014, and landing shows at Days Of Fury Fest 2014 (w. Evergreen Terrace, Expire, etc.), 1-Day Hardcore Showdown 2014 (w. Napalm Death, Buzzcocks. etc.) and Denmarks premiere metal festival Copenhell, where the group shared audience with famous names like Iron Maiden, Anthrax, Suicide Silence and Graveyard to name a few. In terms of performance alone, the band has a growing reputation for playing a wild show.
