Music: Avant-garde Metal
Website: www.facebook.com/6h33official
Duration: 54 minutes (9 tracks)
Country: France
Avant-garde Metal… This is not only crazy Metal or surprising Metal. But it is primarily a tolerant Metal, up to the threshold limits… But what limits? Avant-garde Metal has no limits… Here everything is permitted. There are no frames, canons, rules. Perhaps the only rule is to shock… and not in a vulgar way, but in an artistic way…
The group of such artists is 6:33. “Deadly Scenes” is the second album of the band. Previously, gentlemen cooperated with vocalist Arno Strobl (CINC / CARNIVAL IN COAL, WE ALL DIE (LAUGHING)…
In the description of the album, there is an inscription which saying the experience of music from the album 6:33 is like a “bad LSD trip” combined with the listening of DEVIN TOWNSEND’s music and at the same time the watching of “Corpse Bride” by Tim Burton. And all of this is perfectly legal… I would also add the listening of one of Mike Patton projects like MR. Bungle or TOMAHOWK and the band DIABLO SWING ORCHESTRA…
The compositions of 6:33 contain an enormous amount of various genres of music, so densely woven that it is impossible to hear every, even after a few listenings of the album. The whole forms a dense mixture, like an oil which is distributed around complex metal modes of the machine. And despite the diversity of musical composition of the oil, the everything acts perfectly like clockwork. All is well prepared for millisecond… The every sound, every note, every pause or change of pace…
But let’s focus on the individual components of “Deadly Scenes”… I’m not able to determine – Does Metal music prevails here over other species? It is certainly very dynamic and heavy, like in Power Heavy Metal with a large dose of Progressive Metal. The music sometimes even is very fast and furious, like in Death Metal or in arrangements of Grindcore… The crushing guitar riffs, the powerful multi-vocals (growling, singing, scream), the often surprising changes of tempo and also the sounds of bells, brass, piano and keyboard emphasizing force and mood of the music…
… Of course the music it is not for orthodox fans of Metal music and I would rather not recommend them the listening to 6:33. Maybe orthodox fans want to find an inspiration to commit suicide in protest against leaving of the tradition, so 6:33 (a.m.) is a good time… But who knows, maybe elements of Swing, Jazz, Country, Classical Music, Gospel, Sacred Music, Soundtracks, Circus Music, Folk or Pop exuberantly woven between the Metal’s tacts will make the urge for life.
The whole sounds very majestic, theatrical, melodramatic … sometimes furiously, grotesquely with dose of macabre… The album is brilliant for me!
