French metal bands are quite specific. These bands have something mysterious and dark and of course something avant-garde and alternative. Similarly is with mysterious band BARÚS, who released the EP dressed in a dark and mysterious digipack. The line-up of the band also remains a mystery. So BARÚS at first glance looks mysteriously. Like most bands, which were released by Les Aacteurs De L’Ombre Productions.

Already the first sounds show predatory Death Metal played out in a specific style, with the low-tuned guitars, with the multi-rhytmic intricate tempos, which in total sometimes is very characteristic of the guitar’s technique called “djent.” Equally predatory vocals (screams and growls) are interspersed by dark recitations to music and even melancholic singing. The fast and violent themes are interwoven with heavy massive decelerations or calm and gloomy guitar passages as well as the climatic guitar feedbacks.

Sometimes some fragments take the features of heavy Industrial Metal, furious Black Metal or dark Post Metal. On the other hand, the gloomy guitar decelerations were keep in slow paces along with the hypnotic solos give tone of trance to the music. But the trance is interrupted by frequent changes of pace.

During of the listening of BARÚS sometimes appeared to me the thought about MESHUGGAH…
