Copenhagen-based CHILDRENN, who released the critically acclaimed desperate dark rock debut album “Animale” in march 2016, that received massive critically acclaim – has just entered Black Tornado Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark to record a brand new album.
One of today’s most respected and leading producers in the experimental alternative rock genre is flown in to produce the album. We’re talking about RANDALL DUNN who has produced albums for such different names as SUNNO))), Earth, Wolves In The Throne Room, Boris, Marissa Nadler, Six Organs Of Admittance, Akron / Family, just to mention some few names.
On “Animale” RANDALL DUNN mixed and mastered the album, but in this – the sequel, the band go all-in and got him to produce the album in Copenhagen.
Manoj Ramdas from CHILDRENN explains about the cooperation: “For me it is now the fourth time I will be in the studio with Randall (Ramdas has previously worked with Randall Dunn with his other bands Spektr and danish rock legends Sort Sol) which I had a quite excellent cooperation and friendship with for the last 10 years. He has a very specific approach to performance, sound and mood, and prefer spontaneity and freshness over hackneyed perfectionism that can easily sneak into an album recording process. These are things we know will shape our new songs and upcoming album.”
Peter Mesnickow of Mighty Music adds:
“Childrenn is without doubt one of the most interesting rock bands to come out of Scandinavia for many years in my opinion.I am so happy to work with these guys who are some of the most talented people in modern scandinavian rock music. Their blend of desperate rock, doom, drone, garage, kraut etc. really is not for children 🙂 And in the hands of Randall Dunn, who have produced some of my absolute favourite albums, I simply can’t wait to hear the final result”
The new album will be released in the summer of 2017, but in the beginning of the new year the band will unleash a new single from the upcoming album.
The debut “Animale” got lots of praise from both Scandinavian and international press – and the band’s energetic and explosive live performances took them to such big stages as Roskilde Festival, Northside Festival, Nordic Noise Rock Festival and Copenhagen Psych Festival.
Childrenn consists of Manoj Ramdas (Spektr, Sort Sol, The Good The Bad, The Raveonettes), Jakob Jørgensen (Psyched Up Janis) and Jacob Brixen (Mechanical Bird, Kloster). The new album is recorded with drummer Johan Lei Gellet (Baby Woodrose etc.)
