The trio of 1000DEAD was created in 2013 in Crete – a beautiful island, the cradle of western civilization. This album is the band’s first and only release. The cover-art and graphic design are not catchy. The drawings represent something but I don’t know what it is, there is the lack of clarity.
However, the music form the album is great, from the beginning to the end. I don’t have objections here. The musicians are very capable. The guitarist plays wery well, he plays difficult parties without problems and he plays in attractive way for the listener. Most of the songs contain the short fragments of bassist’s show that enrich the music. When it comes to the vocals, then the hoarse voice dominates here, sometimes in dialogue with the clean vocals. The drummer plays well but without fireworks. The compositions are very varied and fast. Sometimes extreme parties are interlaced with climatic slowdowns.
The Greeks on their album also mixed various styles – the rhythmic Metal-Punk, the metallic dark Post-Hardcore, which in Poland is performed by such band like PANACEA and SILENCE (both aggressive and calmer motives) and Extreme Metal. In addition the end of the song, “Post-War Blues” is pure Stoner Rock.
Each track is rich in changes of tempo, rhythm, melody. However all elements fit together, the whole is consistent, but not overdosed. We can hear that the Greeks have a lot of satisfaction by playing. This is great debut, very impressive (at least for me). Long live the 1000DEAD!
