UNSEEN FAITH – interview with the band

Initially the Rock-Metal music was in the service of Dark Forces… In this music (especially in extreme Metal genres) was the Devil Power, the Power of the night, the destructive and blasphemous Force, which suppressed all manifestations of the Good and the Divinity… But from some time on the scene some bands appear on the Right Hand Path, and their music represent the Divine Energy and Power. UNSEEN FAITH belong for such groups, and their music on the album “Weaver” is a manifestation of this Divine Power… Listening to the album I had impression like God started the Apocalypse, the final war with Evil… The musical Divine weapon is so powerful that any devilish Black Death Metal band is not able to deflect such heavy weapons… These riffs are really incredibly heavy like the Seven Trumpets of Jericho!!! … Because 25 August UNSEEN FAITH will release the album “Weaver” for that reason Elevation Denmark Production & PR (Prime Collective) has prepared the following interview with the team we publish.

Can you explain a little about your band name and music style?

In a few words we are playing a mix of deathcore and some metalcore. If we should put more words on our genre, we will use words like djent and atmospheric. The name ‘Unseen Faith’ comes from our Christian viewpoint. We are believers despite the fact that we can not prove it scientifically or feel it physically. But that’s what is essential when you believe in something; That you trust something without being able to prove it. But it’s also hard to have a faith. When you’re looking for rational answers to the great questions of existence, and the answers are not necessarily as clear as one had hoped, you will be filled with doubt. At least we do. That is what our new album “Waver” is about. Seeking purpose, asking questions and struggeling with doubt is something we think many people are going through. Therefore we see this album as actual and important these days no matter the conviction of the listener.

How do you think your music stands out, and why should readers give you a chance?

The new album “Waver” is something very special. It is dark and brutal, but it also has some beautiful and  magnificent passages. Our lyrics derives from our own reflections about believing in a God. Being a believer isn’t something you hear every day in today’s society in Scandinavia, but our impression is that there are nevertheless many who are dealing with similar thoughts and wondering if there is something bigger than you and me. The lyrics reflects a longing for answers, but also a deep frustration that God seems absent in today’s society and in our lives and so the doubt arises. We try to give the listener an open window to look through into our lives. We also try to write the lyrics so that listener is able to recognize what we are singing about, no matter what you believe or not believe in.

What can we expect in connection with your album release? Do you have any concert plans, music videos or collaborations that you can reveal?

This album is definitely a new step for us. The music and songwriting has improved and the production is so much better! We have released first single and music video from “Waver”. The song is called “Dystopia” and can be found on all media. There will be more singles before the album is released. One of them is another music video. We are organizing concerts and tours; Both in Denmark and abroad, which we are looking forward to!

What is your ambition with the band and what are your future goals and aspirations?

We want to storm ahead and see the world. We all have a big motivation to go out and play concerts and meet new people and it is important for us. If this band takes us around the world, we’re ready! The competition is tough though, both between Danish and foreign bands, but we will do our best to become the band that people wants to see live!

If you were to recommend a song for a new listener, which song would you recommend?

It’s difficult to choose one song! We think that every song has something special to offer! Dystopia will probably be a good bet, as the song is very listenable and it has a catchy chorus. But if it’s a listener who misses a more dark universe, we’d probably recommend “Lost World” or “Friend of the Devil”, but you’ll have to wait until the album is released to hear those songs.

How would you describe the Danish rock/metal scene to be, currently? Are there any Danish bands, besides yourselves, that you would recommend?

The Danish scene is growing and so is the rock/metal scene. There is so many talented bands all over the country. Some of the bands we can recommend are our labelmates Cabal, The Interbeing and Aphyxion. We would also strongly recommend the readers to take a look at the bands on Prime Collective. There are only good things to come after! Other bands who also are doing really well are Møl, Baest and Livløs, who also lives in Aarhus like us.

What are some of your rituals before a show?

We don’t have any specifics. The only thing we do is changing our clothes into something black if we not already are wearing it. That’s probably the only thing we prepare for a concert. Nevertheless, we sweat so much on the stage, so the hair will fall together so it doesn’t matter how it looks when we go on stage. We like to fight each other! Usually it’s just Klaus and Christian who are provoking each other until someone start wrestling the other one. They are the band’s two biggest guys so it’s good entertainment.

What is the absolutely worst thing that could happen with your upcoming release?

The worst thing that could happen would be if everyone hates it! If all the reviewers and listeners just bash it. But it’s a risk you must run when you want to publish music. You can not make everyone happy, but we love what we do and that’s the most important thing!

What is the craziest/stupidest you have been exposed to as a band, so far?

I think the worst thing we have been exposed to was that time we once drove 300 kilometers to a show, before we discovered that we had forgotten a guitar at home. The funniest episode was probably when we last played in Holland and the organizer had booked us into a 5-star hotel. It was delicious and luxurious, but it felt very strange walking around in band t-shirts.

Which track on the album do you hate the most?

I don’t think we hate anyone because we’ve put so much energy into every single song! On the other hand, there are several of our previous releases we are beginning to hate! So it feels great to play new songs from “Waver”!
