Compilation Albums are always pleasing as we get to enjoy all the previous releases by a band-Which facilitates us to closely monitor the band’s progress. Unfortunately the albums of such kind are mostly hidden and overlooked. Today I have a splendid Compilation album which contains all the three EPs of a relatively new and upcoming Melodic Metalcore Act namely, Stoleaway. This band was established in the year 2013 with the Savich brothers as the sole members. Later on both of them would go on to record the debut EP, Expendable in the year 2014. As the time elapsed the brothers would go on to record more EPs- Stagnant and The Significance of Suffering in the year 2015 and 2016 respectively. As of 2017 Stoleaway has completed their lineup and ready to kick more asses soon. Moving onto the Compilation Album, A Monumet To My Sins flaunts 14 tracks, all of them representing the cullimination of 4 years as a band. Unlike putting the songs in Earliest to Latest order the band kept the tracklist in a reverse order so as to keep their Future “Ahead”.
The First EP (Practically the Third one) or the First set of this album showcases their ability as a talented Musicians. Straight Up Melodic Metalcore with some Hardcore-esque vocal style this EP really is captivating and a lot different from the Modern Era of Melodic Metalcore acts who use stereotypical elements to make up the tracklist. Break-Neck Guitar riffs followed by some killer breakdown My favourite song off the first section is “The Absence”. Moshing on… The second section portrays their Second EP which in my opinion stands on a relative position to the First section; this EP has more euphonic moments as some of the Guitar riffs will keep intimating you till you get tired of it. More I listen the More I like. Moreover as the songs progress We get to enjoy a lot of different elements. For instance some memorable Fretboard Gymnastics and Thunderous Drumming. The production is perfect as we have a Not too Raw-Not too Computerised Sound samples. “For Granted” is my pick for the Second Section. Finally we get the band’s first ever EP which in my opinion is the best one as it offers more ferocity and memorable sections. However it is their latest works that have more complexity but this album has the best breakdowns. Best song on this Section?!… Probably a tie between Closed Book and Borrowed Time.
After a couple of good listens here is the bottomline… First of all their stylistic evolution. The latest works are more complex and have more Punk essence to it compared to their early releases-Which is what a Band should do. Gain some experience-Evolve your sound as “Old ways won’t Open New Doors”. Secondly the Production quality. Splendid Production keeping up the less stereotypical methods on achieving a perfect sound. Kudos for Stoleaway! That being said Stoleaway is a Perfect band that plays Melodic Hardcore/Metalcore. I doubt you will find any other band of similar kind as the OG style is pretty much hindered these days. Keep your eyes peeled, the dudes over Stoleaway might release a new album entitled “Outerheaven” later this year for which they will be premiering a new song soon. Until then Im gonna stay nostalgic by blasting some of the older stuff.
