THE JOKER VIOLIN PROJECT is a completely unique project that has hit the Danish metal scene with full force. The project brings a hell of a lot of WTF-factor, which only a few Danish musicians can surpass. The man behind the project is violinist and multi-instrumentalist Christian Hjort Lauritzen (Siamese, Stream City). The music is fast, impressive and entertaining. THE JOKER VIOLIN PROJECT is hard to compare with anything else, but is in line with Devin Townsend’s adventurous soundtracks. The expression and visual twist of the music video is an extension of the artist’s eccentric personality – and hey, if you own a Joker shaped violin, you might as well go with the flow.
It’s a musical adventure, which you can watch right here:
On “Vol. 1”, everything except drums has been written and performed by Christian Hjort Lauritzen, and produced by Jens Bogren (Devin Townsend, Between The Buried And Me, Symphony X).
Christian Hjort Lauritzen has a background in classical music, but found the challenge somewhat dull in the long run. With THE JOKER VIOLIN PROJECT, he shows an original way of incorporating violin into metal. He states:
“I want to show that a violin can easily belong in metal, and I would like to encourage people to have fun with what they do. I’m a classically trained musician, but never felt that I belonged in that world. Now I’ve created a platform where I can reconcile my skills with my passion and have fun with it.”
“Vol. 1” is available on all your favorite streaming platforms, and is released through Prime Collective.
