Metallica is no doubt one of the major influencers in the entire Metal scene. Newer bands often take Metallica’s success as a benchmark to kick start their career. Now there’s this Rock/Metal band influenced by Metallica to start their career at their teenage itself. The drummer for the band I’m talking about is 17 years old. American Amnesia, a new and upcoming Metal/Rock trio released their album “Yet here we are”, this year and I was stoked about this release since I wanted to find out how good the guys would be in the record.
Yet here we are flaunts 11 tracks and their sound could be bordered as either Hard Rock or Metal. In such cases we use the term Alternative Metal. This all well portrayed on their new album. The 11 track album is packed with energy, I mean though the drummer is 17, I could find his fills to be highly proficient. He undoubtedly is injecting some energy to the album. For a 17 year old drummer, this is way beyond brilliant. I mean you can’t expect his fills to be tight but those for sure are well arranged. Kudos for that.
The songs are passive and the heavy instrumentation often tend to give rise to the melodic counterpart, which is a good thing as the transit made is perfect. The production could have been a bit more raw as the polished sound often hinders the strokes and fills of the drums. The age factor is huge here. These kids might as well get big as they mature over time. The sound of guitar is a bit generic but hey, the guitarist is just 19 and he is trying. To be honest, this album has more riffs and guitar parts than most of
the generic and stereotypical Rock bands. So thats a good thing.
There are a lot of aspects which I like but production wise, some serious job should be done on the next album. Overall, this is a nice start for the band and I’m sure their sophomore album will be much more tighter and heavier. Just give the kids some space, they have a long road ahead of them and for reaching till horizon, they have to work harder-which I’m sure they will.
