CHAOS BEFORE GEA was founded in 2008 in Malaga, a sunny city with a rich history, reaching the 8th century BC. In addition to the discussed album, the band released full-length albums “Erebo” in 2013 and “Khâron” in 2015. All three records create one the concept, based on ancient Greek mythology.

The cover-art of “Chronos” is very interesting, it contains eye-catching, colorful drawings, referring to Hellenic cults.

The musical content is primarily a very brutal metal, but not referring to SLAYER or MORBID ANGEL. There is a big influence of death metal, mixed with styles of playing, which can be described as modern-metal, groove-metal, modern-thrash. The second feature of this music is the concentration and intensity of the themes of musical expression. Everything is happening and changing by all the time – the rhythms, melodies, pace, ways of singing vocalists (the vocal clean and harshly, sung freely and with commitment, whispering, singing choir, declamating choir).

The musicians have no problems with performing instrumental playings at full speed. In addition some of the songs, e.g. “Consciousness, Conscience” have climatic intros and insertions, also they are professionally played. Other tracks, for example “Legacy of the Flame” is just a murderous pace and extremism. Individual songs have coherence and drama. The bassist is noticeable. His way he pulls the strings causes he does not hide in the storm of sounds, and he also has a few of his exposed moments.

The music is generally very brutal, but it contains a lot of light, brightness – these are not black-metal or doom climates. This is emphasizes by the production that is clear and readable. It has nothing to do with the garage. These Spanish musicians may not be in taste for Orthodox metalheads, but the music is changing, CHAOS BEFORE GEA is a great band in its genre.
