Coming from the ancient city of Perugia from central Italy, WANDERING VAGRANT has existed since 2015. The musicians underline the inspirations of, among others, PORCUPINE TREE, OPETH as well as GENESIS, YES and KING CRIMSON. So the level is high…
“Get Lost” is their debut album, which I can hear the influence of PORCUPINE TREE first of all. And in addition I would associate this album with RIVERSIDE (maybe cause I am Polish)…
The title of the album completely does not suit th the music, because the phrase “get lost” asociates me with simplicity and aggression. Unless in a different sense of “getting lost”, so this is something other… After all, the music is … atmospheric, spatial, multidimensional, intelligent, well-conceived, saturated with many topics and emotions (but with the predominance of dark melancholy, mystery)… with temporary emotional raptures (going into controlled turmoil and balanced aggression)…
The structure of the songs is almost classic, that is typical for this kind of music (which of course is well for fans of progressive playing in the style of the aforementioned bands)… … The polyrhythmic paces, extensive melodies, extensive guitar’s parts (from delicate passages and chords, through virtuosic solos, until dynamic and heavy riffs), in addition the significant keyboards (which sometimes create a climate in background and underline the mood, as well as sometimes to fight with guitars for leading) and of course the vocals (usually soft, calmly sung and diversified with declamations or feminine singing).
The whole sounds very professional. The compositions are pleasant, sometimes soothe, sometimes stimulate a little. WANDERING VAGRANT first of all focuses on climate and mood, created by ambitious playing, and not vice versa, because as we know there are progressive bands in which virtuosity and demonstration of skills are the most important and on a second place – emotional values. WANDERING VAGRANT create emotions closed in a reasonable approach to virtuosic playing.
