Meal is indeed a diverse genre. You get to handpick your favorite subgenre and listen the heck out of what that specific subgenre has to offer. I used to see the entire Metal as ome big genre until I found out that “subgenre classification” played a crucial role as well. Well, that was long back. Now, I can at least safely claim that I do know enough info on the subgenres than I used to. The point I’m trying to make is, it is now a necessity to listen to music according to the subgenre we enjoy. If not, we would be wasting a whole lot of time in search of our favoritism.
However, there exist this heavily overlooked spectrum of Metal where bands who are being classified under this particular section play an experiment take on Metal. Experimental music has become more obscure with most of the bands who played this particular style got deviated by the time they found commercial success. Although, we do have some bands who deserve utmost respect for the music they put out. The Canadian Experimental/”Electro-Doom-Rock” duo, Post Death Soundtrack is one among those bands who deserve the spotlight for the music they put out.
Blending as many as styles possible onto their electronic music, this Canadian Duo consisting of Steve Moore and Job Ireson released the much anticipated music video of Chosen Sons. Having been found commercial success through their sophomore effort, the duo is all set to record their third album and it seems as if Chosen Sons is a spoiler as to how the album is going to sound like. Sticking to their original sound, blending Electronic music with Doom Rock or Industrial Rock-esque instrumentation, Chosen sons has PDS written all over it. Starting the song with a spooky intro, the song gradually proceeds with a doomy instrumentation coupled with the vocals.
Not to mention the amount of focus dedicated to the lyricism, Moore had this concept of extremists groups gathering with the sole aim of killing people believing as if the God wants them to do so. Overall, PDS have totally nailed both the instrumentation and vocal section! I really am looking forward to what this Canadian duo is up to and maybe get an early sneak peak into their upcoming album. Chosen Sons reassures my urge to do so. Released on the time of Halloween, it was a treat for all those who wish to spend Halloween listening to spooky stuff.
