The Spanish band HIRANYA was still a bit lost in 2015 when they was releasing the single “Lost”. One year later, however they took a deep breath and released the album “Breathe In”. The consequence and also result of this release was after several years the album “Breathe Out”. It was a brief and concise history… I add an important thing … The vocal expression belong to Sara, so what can you expect from Metalcore themes influenced by the melodic Death Metal (?)
As befits a mix of Metalcore with Melodic Death Metal, the music contains a powerful dose of contrast emotions. At one pole are boiling emotions of aggression and rage, and at the other pole of this spectrum are extend melancholic states. This all is expressed by heavy and fast phrases and crushing strokes along with predatory and monstrous growlings interspersed with melodic and calm themes decorated with calm female singing. These various themes often interact simultaneously… Of course I assume that both vocals belong to Sara. And she can strongly shake a listener by her scream but also she can soothe a listener by gentle clear singing.
A musical heaviness in harmony with a melody is the band’s basic asset. However, HIRANYA also has other advantages, such as melodic solos (often with a progressive structure), climatic keys or building a spatial atmosphere… Some phrases sound really furious, typicall for Death Metal, and when the phrases are specally broken or lively as well as appear accent rhythms appear then Metalcore reigns in the music. But after that we can listen to tranquil motives… And so alternately and in various combinations.
HIRANYA ‘s approach to composing cause it is perfect for fans of both ARCH ENEMY and EVANESCENCE.
