After a series of works, based on the sound of the electric guitar, Australasia releases a single of two completely instrumental songs, focusing on the echoes of vintage synthesizers, combined with both acoustic and electronic drum rhythms.
The result is a work wrapped in a liquid and gloomy atmosphere, an immersion in deep waters, with metallic nuances, populated by bizarre sea creatures, which touch the listener before disappearing into the abyss.
“Mercurio – Argento” preserves a post-rock soul, combined with elements of ambient and electronic music, preferring slow and hypnotic rhythms that flow into flashes of light, generating a cinematographic dimension, inspired by the soundtracks of the 70s and 80s.
The single is released independently, exclusively in digital format and on 10″ splatter vinyl, in a limited edition. The cover, like that of the previous album ‘Notturno’ (2015), was created by the artistic collective Ver Eversum.
All music written, arranged and performed by Gian Spalluto. Acoustic drums on “Mercurio” by Giuseppe “Unholy Heart” Suma. Mixed & mastered by Mattero “Ciube” Tabacco at Raptor Recording Studio.
Recorded at Last Floor Studio.

AUSTRALASIA is an evolutionary musical project led by multi-instrumentalist Gian Spalluto. Its music evokes emotion and paints vivid pictures for the mind’s eye, transporting the listener far beyond where his physical being is left standing .
Australasia’s music reflects a childhood spent listening to Ennio Morricone’s soundtracks, followed by a youth in extreme metal and heavy psych bands that led to a passion for shoegaze, post-rock
and Blade Runner-era synthesizers.
These different components are not simply juxtaposed each other but come together in a unique blend where dfferent souls coexist and enrich each other.
