The Spanish formation [IN MUTE], which defines itself as the most extreme Spanish band with growling woman on vocals, has released another album – “Chaos Breeder”. Two years have passed since the last album, and the composition has changed significantly, because the new growler is Vanja and the new guitarist is Mike, who additionally enriches the music with his melodic scream.
Of course, Vanja bravely embraced the succession of the previous singer, and her vocal skills are equally impressive. The sound of her growling is slightly lower, but persistent listeners will notice the differences between male and female growls, which most likely are result from the anatomical changes of the larynx in both sexes. However, this does not mean that female growling is weaker or worse. It is equally powerful, brutal and monstrous.
In turn, Mike’s vocals appear at the most appropriate moments, accentuating phrases or in some chorus. We are dealing here with a phenomenon, where female vocals play the role of this more powerful singing. However, the male vocal still is a strong and sharp singing that creates melodies. This is really hard. Singing scream. It is not uncommon for both vocals to overlap with each other or replace, creating something similar to the dialogue between them.
Musically here is very brutal, hard, fast and predatory. Death Metal, Groove Metal, Metalcore… Brutality and melody… Crushing riffs and fast climate solos… Technical licks and complex rhythms… You will find all this on this album.
This album changed the band’s aspect to more aggressive.
