The adventure of TOMORROW’S RAIN started in 2002 as a band called MOONSKIN, under which they played various concerts and released individual songs on various compilations. In the meantime, the line-up and the name have changed. There were also concerts alongside stars such as PARADISE LOST, KREATOR, ROTTING CHRIST, TIAMAT or ORPHANED LAND and with others…
Finally, the time has come for their debut album, which touched me completely… The Gothic-Doom themes related to Death Metal’s heaviness have always touched me. This gloomy, dense and deeply melancholic mood that prevails on the album is food for my soul and reminds me of the vanity of human existence, of what is temporal, what is ephemeral…
The compositions on “Hallow” are very melodic pieces based on solid, heavy, crushing and massive foundations, which saturate the whole with their power. However, above them (or rather between them) there are also delicate melodies (of guitar-keyboards and vocals), also very dark and very depressive. These more delicate motifs sometimes take the lead, creating very atmospheric and emotional songs.
And the funeral rhythms sway like in a mournful rhythm. Although sometimes they can also give a kick and shake, make burst of emotions… or take over.
On the other hand, the multi-colored, monstrous and demonic growlings dominate among the calm and sad, clear singings and melodeclamations… of the male and female vocal parts, the variety of which is here not without reason. Because TOMORROW’S RAIN invited distinguished guests to cooperation, namely: Aaron Stainthorpe (MY DYING BRIDE), Greg Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST), Jeff Loomis (ARCH ENEMY / NEVERMORE), Fernando Ribeiro (MOONSPELL ), Spiros Antoniou (SEPTICFLESH), Sakis Tolis (ROTTING CHRIST), Mikko Kotamaki (SWALLOW THE SUN), Kobi Farhi (ORPHANED LAND), Anders Jacobsson (DRACONIAN), Shlomi Bracha (MASHINA) and Lisa Cuthbert (session singer of THE SISTERS OF MERCY).
Perhaps due to vocalism, but not only, some themes of TOMORROW’S RAIN may be associated with MY DYING BRIDE, with the old TIAMAT, ORPHANED LAND or with MOONSPELL. However, these and other similarities will not be avoided if the music is inspired by the achievements of FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, PARADISE LOST, THE SISTERS OF MERCY, MY DYING BRIDE, old KATATONIA, old ANATHEMA, NEW MODEL ARMY, BAUHAUS, old OPETH, JOY DIVISION, NICK CAVE, old TIAMAT, THE MISSION, MORRISSEY and others …
The whole thing is wrapped in deep sadness, reflection. But sometimes these emotions get out of control, showing more emphatic feelings… even anger and aggression. The compositions contain very touching guitar and vocal melodies.
The album is closed by the bonus track that is an acoustic version of the song “Fear” (with male-female singing in Hebrew). On the band’s profile of Badncamp you can find more songs in Hebrew, which unfortunately did not make it to the album.
