The Swiss CROWN OF GLORY comes from the Canton of Lucerne and it is the band whose origins date back to the end of the last century. However, their record output is not comsiderable. “Ad Infinitum” is their third album. Nevertheless, such a long period of time is noticeable in their music, because the compositions are well thought out and rich in various themes, clearly oscillating around the melodic Metal.
Energy and dynamism, rich melodies, catchy melodies, galloping rhythms with romantic slowdowns contained in schematic arrangements including introductions, expansions, verses, choruses, leitmotifs… It all create Power Metal! That’s all what we love in Power Metal! Rhythmic guitar riffs with melodious solos harmonizing with the imaginative keyboard themes. And of course with a very melodic singing, which, if necessary, can scream powerfully, or sing hoarsely with rapacity. And the vocal skills in Power Metal are important to not spoil the whole thing. The vocalist of CROWN OF GLORY is a professionalist, who can change his voices, as well as the other musicians are professionalists.
“Ad Infinitum” is not only songs contain typical canons of Power Metal, that is strong and at the same time very melodic, easily catchy, containing the so-called “Metal hymns”, moving hearts, making thrills and rousing in style of HELLOWEEN or HAMMERFALL. The compositions also have clear influences of Hard Rock (including Hammond organ sounds), Heavy Metal (in more aggressive phrases) and even Thrash and Groove Metal themes.
In addition, another variety were the female vocals (Seraina Telli – ex-BURNNG WITCHES) accompanying the primary vocalist in one song, as a result of which the music sometimes came closer to NIGHTWISH. And the operatic male singing turned out to be a total surprise. And the ballad. A romantic and very nostalgic piece that is very emotional.
Some people consider Power Metal to be candy music. There is something with truth. Many melodies are sweet, but also full of pathos, warlike or fairy-tale heroism, neoclassicism or melancholy. However, this melody is one side of the coin (or rather one side of Metal). Because Power Metal has also strong sound, motor skills and energy… and so is CROWN OF GLORY.
