Among my daily duties, I found a moment for myself and I was spend it with the sounds of THANATEROS and the re-edition of their album “Insomnia” with some bonus songs. The band was founded in 2000. It is also an important date and for me, then I said “Yes” to a man who is my husband, the father of my children and the man who introduced me to the world of Metal music. This is such reflection….

Coming back to the band, they come from Germany, a five-person male line-up and 20 years of experience in their gothic-folk-metal music, which can be heard from the first track. They released five albums, the last one in 2019 is “Insomnia”. And this album I reviewed is a special edition distributed by Echozone / Bob-media containing 4 bonus instrumental songs, which in total gives as many as 17 songs that you can to listenening. And as the title of the album says, with this album we can fall into sleeplessness. The longer I listen, then more the music absorbs me, and the sounds pierce through me more and more. And the intriguing cover-art with a window to the ocean only emphasizes how far I can drift with the sounds of THANATEROS songs, which enveloping my interior, take me to the depths, reaching for my sensitivity and feelings to fighting with my thoughts.

This album is another proof of how music can wake up us. The male and at the same time melodic vocal is like the abyss of the ocean, it seems amazing, it absorbs like a wave, but it hits the shore to take me on a further voyage in the next song. And the spoken recitations are like the announcement of some event, they raise the tension, and just as a silence on the ocean is an announcement of a storm. The singings create easily memorable refrains that heal our aura by giving a breath of good energy. The vocal combined with the music (that is most similar to the Swedish band TIAMAT for me), which include also thrilling Irish-Celtic folk melodies and well-exposed sounds of the violin and the keyboards creating a unique atmosphere.

The whole together acts like an ether to intoxicate us. The whole thing is complemented by well-harmonized, composed, heavy guitars, which add a Metal sound, and as a result create a coherent whole, the immense and amazing spirit of the oceans.

The last four songs are instrumental evidence that the band is outstanding, at the same time of the highest quality and first-class. A cruise with them is a great adventure and an unforgettable impression. And then you will not want to hit the shore again. With the band on a deck you want to drift endlessly in the ocean of dreams.

Reach for “Insomnia” too, do not fall asleep, because they can sail without you…
