ZERO 2 NOTHING was established in 2018 in Athens. In the years 2014 – 2018, the band operated under the name of SILVER MOCKINGBIRDS, but then they did not create any stuff. Under the new banner, this full-time debut was preceded in 2021 by three single-track, digital singles with interesting graphics. The cover of “Limits of Temptations” is also professionally made, with talent.

The musical content of the disc is mainly in Rock and Hard Rock styles. The band advertises their music as “Rock melodies, Metal riffs”. I would add – and strong, hit refrains.

But radical Metal fans have nothing to look for here. Well, sometimes Hard Rock goes beyond the boundaries of Heavy Metal. However, this is music with an claw. I can see (or rather hear) influences from early DEEP PURPLE, but it’s not about copying, it’s a similar way of thinking about playing and composing.

The songs are varied, moods, calmness and dynamics are intertwined in them. Instrumentalists perfectly fit into various styles. The title track is undoubtedly a solid Rock ballad, but combined with Country melodies and Blues rolling. The effect is great! The final song of “Bloody Mary” is mysterious and psychedelic, with a hint of sadness.

The Greeks have a good workshop, but they are not outstanding. The vocalist sings simply but lively. The keyboardist efficiently handles both the keyboard and the piano, and brings a lot from himself. The guitar solos do not reach the spectacular level, but they are interesting. The bass clearly shows its value in many places.

The band does not stand out with anything, but it has this “something” that makes its music attractive – it has an interior, an attractive thing. The members of the group are very well-coordinated, they know what effect they want to achieve together.

The album is bursting with life and the joy of playing together. A hot music from hot Greece. When it comes to skill, it’s just a matter of practicing to get even more proficient. I wish the Athenians a great career.
