MALEFISTUM is a young project, founded in 2019 by guitarist Jens Faber (DAWN OF DESTINY), which invited several experienced guests to cooperate, that is the vocalists: Melissa Bonny (SERENITY, WARKINGS, AD INFINITUM, RAGE OF LIGHT), Zagan (BLACK MESSIAH), Federica Lanna (SLEEPING ROMANCE) and Eric Dow (HELSOTT). Usually, something extraordinary comes out of such projects…

The intro, totally atmospheric, initially in ethnic style, like DEAD CAN DANCE, gently introduces the listener to the following after that a real storm of impulsive but also very melodious sounds, which are an exquisite collage of the quintessence of Power Metal and Melodic Death Metal… So the introduction was very bizarre in relation to what came… Fast galloping pace, full of energy and spontaneity, as well as catchy or sublime melodies fight against each other using a very multi-threaded themes. On the one hand, the female’s beautiful singing (and more seldom the male’s singing) with choirs as well as the neoclassical virtuoso guitar’s solos and heroic-brave mood full of pathos. On the second hand, the sharp riffs and very predatory vocals and growlings with screams (both male and female). But there is another side of MALEFISTUM – very delicate, balladic, romantic with melancholic and nostalgic songs…

At many times, these opposing themes coexist at the same time to creating a very interesting atmosphere – dark, frightening and predatory as well as melancholic and mysterious.

MALEFISTUM collected all the best in Power Metal (sublime atmosphere, growing tension full of emotional elations, very touching and easily catching vocals and guitar-keyboard melodies) and also in Melodic Death Metal (dangerous screams, monstrous growls, technical, crushing and fast licks, virtuoso solos, dynamic variability).

The album is very rich in arrangement, multi-themed, sometimes even symphonic and even folk, with a colorful palette of vocals, both atmospheric and at the same time sharp and crushing… It is perfect for fans of NIGHTWISH or DARK TRANQUILLITY and them similar…
