Metalheads have a love/hate relationship with Electronic music. While some enjoy the melody and happy vibes that come with it, a few think as if the music lacks musicianship and creativity. But, in my opinion, this genre has a lot to offer than what we hear from the radio. There are a lot of musicians who try to blend multiple elements so as to have a unique sound written against their name. In Metal Centre, I have previously covered some of those electronic producers, Nyxem, Gone From My Sight, and Post Death Soundtrack – to name a few. My intent is for our readers to get acquainted with the best of what the music industry has. That being said, recently, while searching for new music, I came across Scotty Seed – who plays a blend of electronics, dark ambience and rock.

Scotty Seed is an Italian music producer, currently based out of NYC, having a promising background in the music industry. He started at the tender age of 6, when he was so drawn to Pop music, that he wanted to learn Piano. Although his music preferences were pretty narrow, over time he matured and started exploring obscure and heavily experimental genres such as Bubblegum Pop and Witch House, while still having an inclination towards the Electronics. On a mission to make it big in the industry, Scotty pursued professional training for vocals from Katie Agresta – known for training big acts like Bon Jovi.

Even though Scotty claims his music to have similarities with the infamous artists such as Marilyn Manson and The Prodigy, he has a unique sound altogether. This sound is perfectly showcased on his 2020 LP, “Hallow’s Eve”. The album has a total of 11 tracks, with a total run time of around 31 minutes. This is a fairly new outing for Scotty, considering the fact that his previous release was a more straightforward joyful electronic song with aj engaging melody. In this album, however, Scotty relishes his dark side. Adding spookiness to his music. For some reason, I believe he has pulled it off pretty nice as I was really engaged to the sound.

Along with his instrumentation, Scotty’s vocalising and vocal techniques has to be highlighted. In my opinion, it is one of the main pillars for the success of this album. Instead of following his conventional singing style, Scotty also added whisper style vocals – which compliments the direction of instrumentation that Scotty had in mind. In short, it is the vocals that give his songs the character. Also, it enhances the spookiness of the tracks.

Scotty Seed might be a new name in the Electronic music industry, but over time his expertise and finesse will surely make him one among the best in this industry. But, I do believe that there are some portions that he can work upon. I’m no expert when it comes to this style, but in my opinion, Scotty is capable of doing more. Imagine, the album has 11 tracks – so why don’t take it up a notch and have the first part happy and the last part spooky. This would have perfectly captured the current status of the world. Started with high hopes, and now, we are left with just hopes while the dark coronavirus is slowing things down! But, then again, it is the artists’ thought process that matters the most.

In fact, I can’t compete against Scotty’s thought process. He considers music as an art of escape. An escape, that would let him do anything without any limits. The album is a reflection of that! I really look forward to what he has to offer next. A mix of melody and dark music is what I expect. But, we have to wait and see what Scotty thinks! And I’m sure that he wouldn’t want to rush, but take enough time to think and come up with a different style. One possibility is that he would switch from dark, and pursue something different…again!
