HEMESATH will soon release its latest album on October 7, 2022. And to be honesty, I haven’t been able to find on the internet any concrete information about the date of band’s begining. It seems that their first material, the EP “Rot, so Rot”, was released in 2013. Then the first album “Für Euch” in 2015, and then the digital single “Heile Segen” in May 2022. However, the current photos present the musicians as middle-aged people, and on their official website there is a concise information about their concert played in 1st January, 1970 (!) In the German town of Beckum. Therefore, according to the above, it can be presumed that HEMESATH is not a young, beginner band, but rather an experienced band, despite a very small number of releases.

In any case, their music, which can be heard also on official portals on the Internet, undoubtedly fits into the trend called Neue Deutsche Härte (NDH), or New German Hardness, which began to develop sometime in the mid of 90s last century. And the most famous representative of this species is of course RAMMSTEIN, although there are considerations that they are not pioneers of the NDH, but this is not the time to consider. And for this reason, modern NDH representatives are always compared to RAMMSTEIN.

Well, there are indeed many similarities. Especially the way of singing (in German language of course) and a slightly similar timbre of vocal, as well as the characteristic guitar riffing (heavy, sometimes muffled, dynamic and industrial) and the rhythm of the whole (from slow, even Doom Metal or ballad tempos, to medium-fast or quick licks). Of course an indispensable element is electronics (keyboards, synthesizers and samples).

However, I would like to emphasize that HEMESATH is not a ideal copy of RAMMESTEIN, because the band uses many other ideas in the music. For example, apart from typical industrial samples, the band adds orchestral and symphonic motifs interwoven between strong guitars. Or purely sung phrases or male choral themes (somewhat in Gothic or Gregorian chants style) and operatic female singing. At times, such the music connection also resembles the German LACRIMOSA.

In addition, on “So Schön” there was time not only for Rammstein’s patents, but also for ballad elements, or typically Metal licks (typical for Doom Metal or Thrash-Death Metal or Progressive Metal), and even romantic solos, passages of neo-classical parts of keyboards and clean guitars. Many of these elements occur simultaneously, intertwine or merge smoothly into one another.

A very positive feature of HEMESATH’s music is that each track contains very catchy guitar, keyboard or vocal melodies, or some catchy leitmotif. On the one hand, it might seem that the music is cold, emotionless (as it befits an industrial trend). But this music is full of mood and pathos, it is also very emotional. In the music, emotions of anger and wrath are intertwined with deep melancholy.
