The ÓSSERP team hatched into this world in 2013 in Barcelona. So far, they have released one EP, two splits and two full-time albums.
The splendid cover of the latest release was created by the Italian Paolo Girardi. It is really original – instead of skulls and skeletons typical for Metal, it presents an amazing mythological and cosmic vision.
The music that rules on “Els Nous Cants De La Sibil-la” is brutal Death Grind. It is really extreme – a devastating wave of hatred, violence, extermination. But that’s not the whole sound content of this album. Tracks are often preceded by electronic atmospheric or industrial intros. The carnage in the songs is diversified by slower, heavy, melancholy parties referring to Doom Metal and Black art. There are also fragments that paradoxically connect brutality with simultaneous moodiness, as well as brutality with heaviness and gloom, in each case very interestingly performed. We also find short stops.
The band has two singers. One rips his throat in low tones, wheezing or growling. The second joins in from time to time with clear singing that turns into a scream. The guitarists are very efficient, they create a wall of sound containing interesting motifs and varied with short, valuable solos. The drummer gives himself to the music in the whole, he tortures the instrument with passion, without mercy. They all play full of devotion to their music, straight from visceras.
The album is dominated by aggression, but there is a certain catchy, attractive melodiousness. The music is full of hatred, drama, volatility, tension and despair. It does not limit to shocking with evil, it is composed wisely and with an idea. The sonic attack of the Spanish quintet should hit to every admirer of this style.
