This interview will be strange. Sometimes I didn't get the concrete answer for the concrete questions. I do not know why, perhaps was there the linguistic barrier and maybe did my conversationist ( the guitarist of band – Jesus) have mysterious nature? Anyway MEDUSA'S CHILD is the band only in own genre and as the heavy/gothic metal team has original inspirations
Hi!!! If you're ready then let's go… You surprised me! The tune of “The Mind Cohesion” The climate of New Age, The Indian's songs I didn't expect something like this in heavy metal band (especially from Germany). There now I have to admit I regretted that this song was so short. It is really great and overcrowded some homesickness, sadness Where did you from take the idea of such Indian's motives? What did you inspire?
Hi man! First of all thanks for interviewing us. Ok than lets start. The idea has two reasons. First of all, we all are more or less interested in the legends around the native Americans. Secondly and like I think the stronger reason for the Indian influence was the song Mother Earth. After we finished that song (which took a long time haha) we realized that the song has a kind of spirit which remained us to the spirit of the Indians and I can tell you that that wasn´t planned, it just happened. And what could have been better than conducting in that song with such an Indian influenced Intro.
Just the next tune is “Mother Earth” on your material – “Immortal Mind Cohesion”… The tune connected very neatly with previous piece and then suddenly in one moment the tune entries in sharp heavy/power metal playing. And I have next two questions in connected with this tune. The first question – There are the pathetic male's choruses, which ones I associated with BATHORY very well. Is it my subjective's associations? Maybe is it a coincidence?
You associate that with BATHORY? You are the first one who compared us with BATHORY. I can really assure you that it is coincidence, it was definitely not planned.
The second question – The many bands used the theme of “mother”, e.g. “Mother North” of SATYRICON. Now I'm beginning unite the facts slowly. The Indians The Mother of Earth Has it got any relationship with ecology? And maybe have you got own message connected with your music?
We all grew up in the wild nature, in the forests of Thuringia. We try to tell little stories out of our everyday life. And Crow who writes the lyrics, likes it to pack our experiences in that kind of spiritual and sometimes mystical topics. Packed in these stories it could be easier for other to have their own interpretations. Sometimes we are telling serious stories and sometimes not, it depends on what happened to us.
OK. Let's go further. Your songs are union very interestingly. The union of two songs (“Mother Earth” and “Holy Land”) is very good example. It sounds like very long song (total album). What did you create the arrangements?
If we are live on stage, we are also playing such unions. And we thought it would be a good idea to bring this also on CD. And as you already mentioned in your question, it creates the feeling of one never-ending song. And it is maybe also the influence of some other bands, who are also doing this.( But only a little influence).
Some motives of your music associated me with LAKE OF TEARS. The hoarse sound of vocal in connection with the parties of guitars especiall, e.g. “Eye of Fire”. Do you know this team?
The co-operation between the guitar and the vocals, that's true, could remind you to Lake of tears. But there are still so many songs existing and sometimes, maybe because of our different music influences it happens that you think of other bands and songs which already exist. But we can assure you again it happened accidentally.
I see that classical music is not strange for you. It is hear in “connector” of “Eye of Fire” with “Center of the Dark”. It suggested me – J.S. Bach Toccata and fugue d-minor.
That is true. We like to thank such great musicians for their great work. And of course it is a dramatic opus which is a good connection for the following song Center of the Dark.
“Tears of the Wolf” is exquisite and the very nostalgic ballad. However here the guitar's passages and general composition of tune brought me associations with ballads of SCORPIONS or ACCEPT. The keyboard's motive and feminine's singing in background was interesting intervention here And the title of tune associated me with Indian's motives undeniably…
That's again true. I see you really listened to the CD. Thanx a lot for listening. We can't negotiate our backgrounds. And as I explained some questions before our singes likes to pack the facts into an Indian atmosphere.
Did HELLOWEEN influenced on your work somehow? Some motives (particularly these dynamic) are in style of HELLOWEEN, e.g. the tune “I'm still Here”.
Not especially Helloween influenced us, there are also bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Stratovarius and Axel Rudi Pell. But we try to create our own new Medusa´s Child style. But we although can't denial our roots and influences. Hahaha
How do people receive the title and the text (in chorus) of next tune “Fight fire with Fire”? The title associate with METALLICA for many old metal maniacs funs exclusively. Maybe someone could accuse you about sacrilege.
We know about that fact and we already received reviews where the said that it is the cover-version of the Metallica song. But that's not true!! These words and phrases express strong emotions and it is not meant as sacrilege!!
“Lionheart” don't associate me with Indians (hahaha). Rather this associate with mediaeval knighthood, bravery and heroship. But in spite of all this is the gentle and very melancholy ballad. It is ideal for dance with sweetheart girl
With the song “Lionheart” we introduced another influence. We wanted an acoustic ballad on the record which implies a new style. We wanted to show that Metal not necessarily has to be hard and heavy. And it tells our own experiences with woman. Hahaha
And we came ad finem your album by this way. The last tune “Medusa's Child”… The beginning is completely in Gothic style (the specific arrangement and deep melodious tone of voice). And now on the end of album I perceived really, that I do not know – Are you nearer to heavy/power metal whether gothic metal in style of LAKE OF TEARS or CEMETARY?
I´m happy that you mentioned that fact, because it shows that you can't compare us with one single band. And that means for us that we partly created our own Medusa´s Child style. Which shows all our different influences.
“Medusa's Child” (ancient Greece), “Mind Cohesion” and “Holy Land” (aforetime North America), “Lionheart” (mediaeval Great Britain) – These tunes brought me some associations with different epochs and countries. Is some this explanation logical? And maybe I had next associations again? Hahahaha
I would like to know your further associations. haha . It sounds logical. It is your interpretation of our record. And it is a very realistic interpretation
Generally the album made me huge impression You connected many valuable motives from metal music. What is interest your music?
Our major aim is to have fun with the music we like. And we are really happy about every fan and everyone who likes our music. That keep's us and our music alive.
When we will hear the new next album? What will it be?
Right now I can't tell you when our next album will be released. But it will become a little harder than Immortal Mind Cohesion But we wont give away to much. hahaha
On the end I change the theme. Do Germans have some hopes with Benedict XVI? The history of our states was connecting undeniably. Not only wars united us. And now after Polish pope came German pope
We think as long as the music is alive our countries will be connected. Whether there is a German or Polish, or from which country ever, pope.
Ok. Thanks for the interview! It's time for your message
Thanx a lot for the interview. Stay heavy and keep Metal alive . Medusa´s Child (Jesus)
