Music: Death Metal with Thrash and Black influences
Duration: 40:00 minutes (10 songs)
Good songs: Blood Desire and Lethal Dreams
Dreamworker is Enter Chaos' debut, and I must say they did more than a fair job. But the album sounds not extremely interesting, and they didn't manage to impress me. Since I saw on their site, that they got very good quotes from famous magazines, I'll try to explain why I think that those marks are too high.
At The Gates was one of their biggest influences (together with Death and Morbid Angel), but the band just sounds like At The Gates! With the fact that these bands are their influences is nothing wrong, but a band must never consist out of merely influences. EC uses all little things that those bands use as their code, in which people can recognize those bands. The melodies are mainly At The Gates' (and a little Death and Dissection) and the atmospheres and the sound are very Morbid Angel alike.
Though this is not a bad record; almost a good one instead. Especially the vocals manage to give the band some quality, when I heard them for the first time, I thought they were a little weird, but they are very evil. The vocalist seems to have no problems with the creating of this voice, she (!!!) sounds very natural.
The production sounds very evil and black too, exceptionally raw and filthy, but good though. The album consists out of a lot of blast beats, and fast thrash riffing. What this band is doing well is that the listener doesn't have any problems to remain listening till the end of the record, which consists out of an At The Gates cover. This cover is nothing special though.
