Flawless… a good description of this CD. Formed in 1996 (Louisville, US) the band has come a long way with their music. If you are into good melodic nu-metal this album has got it all. Although the music could be described by comparisons to other bands, this band has a sound of their own. If you are into fast nu-metal with that rap-like vocal and jumpy beats you might get disappointed. This music is more for fans of bands like Staind. In Flaw’s case the vocals are as important as the guitars. They are emotional with hardcore-like growls every now and then and combined with thick powerful but not too complicated riffs. This brings my thoughts to the achievements of Disturbed, Staind and even Tool. The melody-lines are beautiful (couldn’t find another word for it!) and, I hope this won’t shock you, remind me of The Cranberries (especially the choruses). Lyrically this band is in the same vein as Staind and Life of Agony. It seems that personal matters and thoughts are the cornerstone here. Everything is delivered in a melancholic and somewhat bitter way. This is the perfect metal album to relax to. But don’t fool yourself ‘cos every now and then the guys deliver a little more speed and heaviness to wake you up!
9 out of 10 nearly a masterpiece!
