“Well, everything started in 1986 in Boleslawiec, Poland (near Jelenia Gora). Brothers Leszek and Krzysztof Rakowski, together with Piotr Jerominow and Pawel Nowak, created the band “Bruno The Questionable.” The name was taken from the movie “Jabberwocky” by Monty Python. The music was like American hard core – dark and heavy.” But after a while when some changes where made the music “became more psychedelic and melancholic.” (www.fadingcolours.com)
This is a re-recorded compilation of the early days of this band. I've read a little about that they were Polish pioneers within the field of goth music. But what the hell, how can one break old ground and still be called a pioneer? It's all about recording yet another Sisters of Mercy album! Three songs differ though. Two remind me a little of early U2, you'll probably reckon which two. Track 10 came as a surprise because it reminds me of the early days of Pearl Jam/ Soundgarden… not bad!
This album sounds a little more commercial than “Black Horse” and I have to say that the vocals have improved a lot here. The “bitchiness” is almost gone and the accent has improved a lot. The chick sounds quite OK now!
Bottom line: nothing outstanding but a great improvement for this band.
