Originally from Bulgaria, the young Nikolo Kotzev early had fun with playing the violin. Later he has been interested in playing the guitar. The last mentioned instrument he plays virtuoso in the meanwhile. Keyboards and songwriting came along.
Domiciled in Finland he hurled himself into a solo project, that includes 4 longplayers in the meantime. On those 4 albums you can find great singers like Glenn Hughes and Thomas Vikström. For the 5th album Nikolo could get Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Edman, Tony Harnell and Eric Martensson. We are talking about BRAZEN ABBOT. In the year 2001 Kotzev released the double album Nostradamus, he was responsible for (like songwriting etc.). Furthermore the workaholic works with different other bands like for example Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Company of Snakes or Rose Tattoo.
After releasing a DVD (A decade of BRAZEN ABBOT) it should go forward with a new album of with BRAZON ABBOT:
Let´s have a look at the songs that are sung by Joe Lynn Turner´s voice: Song No. one My Resurrection is a great opener and you see in time that it is not just something half boiled!
With the track called Dreams your neck will be strained a lot with its oriental touch. Also the engaged Sofia String Orchestra did a good job. Also More than money can convince with the heavy modus. This song is like created for Joe Lynn Turner, who formerly sung in Rainbow and also Deep Purple. Rage of angels is not that good in my eyes
But anyway: Well done, Mr. Turner!
And now we have a, no, more looks at the tracks with Ex-Malmsteen singer Goran Edman: Convincing Mr. Edman sounds already with the neck crusher Bad madman! Flyin´ blind is a bit lost in first rotation, whereas Beggar´s Lane finds the way to the ears a bit easier. The bluesy ballad Shades of grey fits terrifically to the warm voice of Goran.
Tony Harnell, who is the singer in TNT and also in Starbreaker has to be watched: Godforsaken is the first song for the master, afterwards the song Another day gone, where Tony had fun with. It is just a pity that Lost is really lost. Somehow there is missing the kick.
Eclipse singer Erik Martensson also performed a good contribution: On the piano ballad The shadows the soulfully singing Swede shows us this great vocals.
For the first time in the BRAZON ABBOT history a string orchestra of 31 members was employed that could bring down its qualities on CD in home Bulgaria.
The instrumental band is as follows: Nelko Kolarov on keyboards, Wayne Banks on bass and Mattias Knutas with the drumsticks.
Four fabulous hard rock singers altogether, put together through the big master from Bulgaria Nikolo Kotzev, who is in charge of the guitars, percussions, keyboards and piano.
Every song is written for the voice of each of the vocalists! And generally you cannot complain about anything: Each of the involved did a great job- and you can hear that!
