TERRA NOVA from the wonderful Holland enrich us with their happy rock album called „Escape“. 12 hard rock numbers tie up to the debut album „Living it up“ from 1996, the followers „Break away“ (1997) and „Make my day“ (1999), which could mostly succeed well in Japan. Unfortuantely the band split up, because there very problems with the ancient label. Now, six years later, Frontiers Records have attended to the melodic rock band and encouraged singer Fred Hendrix to the resumption of TERRA NOVA. For the fans of the 90´s albums, this news surely was good! But what can the album show us?
„With drive“ you could mark that thing. The opener „Long live Rock´n´Roll” somehow reminds me on glam rock  This song definitely is the hit on that plate and cannot be topped by any other song, hm, except maybe by the second song called „Rock Bottom“. Also very exhilarated are the following songs: „Hold the line“, „Escape“ and „Back in the eighties“. On the other hand they have some balladesques as well with „Heaven knows“ and „You are the one“. Also calmer tones we have with „Yesterday“. „War on war“ and „Sole surviver“ are real classical hard rock songs. In that corner we can also put „Part of the game“. „Lonely in the night“ becomes a catchy tune by listening to it a few times. This you can also tell about the whole album.
The brothers Fred and Ron Hendrix on vocals, keyboards respectively prevail in the songs.

Coming to the end of that album, the happiness that is shown by TERRA NOVA becomes a bit obtrusive, yes, nearly annoying.

For a sunny summer „Escape“ is suited very well, although there is a lack of heaviness.
