For good understanding a credo of this album you should blow your speaker up – up to the all limits – turning volume knobs of your player into maximum and pressing play. The first seconds of this LP don't let you be in doubt no more. Screams “R… O… C… K… WHAT YOU GOT? ROCK! WHAT YOU GONNA DO? ROCK YOU”. Yes, this is rock and metal album. Just from 80's best days. Classical sounds and arrangements. You strictly jump into the best times of hard'n'heavy beats this planet ever survived… HELIX were compared with W.A.S.P., ACCEPT, IRON MAIDEN, VAN HALEN, JUDAS PRIEST, AC/DC, The CULT or for example CINDERELLA – so you can see – with many bands from that golden period.
And were in the middle of trend knowing every arcane of heavy art and using 'em on stage. According to own words of Brian Vollmer, leader and lead vocalist of HELIX: “The success of the song Rock You was so phenominal that we went from gold to platinum in two weeks and landed on a fantastic tour with Quiot Riot and Whitesnake. The tour took us all over the U.S., to Europe with Motorhead, and in Canada we toured or played with great Canadian bands like Triumph, Streetheart and the Headpins. We also had another huge hit with the song (Make Me Do) Anything You Want and with the song Gimme Gimme Good Lovin'. In the video for the song was porn queen Traci Lords, who we found out years later, was only 15 years old.”
I really like this album, full of power, fun, joy and energy. Every song could be heavy metal anthem. In Europe almost completly not heard, not known, in Canada celebrated as gods of metal – HELIX created one of the finest metal albums. If you are a fan of such music – I recommend you this album. Maybe you will have – similar to myself – a tear in eye listening music that now-a-days is only a sign in memories of show business regime's tyrants…
