Cool songs: Mask of Sanity, Killing the Innocent
ABOMINANT are now American death metal veterans, present on the scene since 1993, recording one album every two years. What is interesting about the group, is the fact, that the one and only demo, they have recorded, is their first release. The rest of the recordings are
only full-length CDs, what is quite interesting. Triumph of the Kill is their seventh long play.
And it will interest the fans of death and DEATH, as this album has a lot of common features with the early works of Chuck and company. The progressive death metal genre is not an easy piece of bread, but the musicians from ABOMINANT managed to tame it, therefore they serve a spiced up dish on a hot plate. The music is very heavy, with lots of squeaks and guitar doodles, which stab and rip the body, like meat-hooks. Characteristic and fleshy growl is not so innovative, but at the same time is everything, that is necessary for good death material. The lethal sounds are shot from the speakers like bullets from AK-41, and they do more damage – the aggressive and violent power dominates the sound, therefore the music is being pushed away. But who cares, some like it this way.
ABOMINANT recorded a developed and varied album, filled with handy-technical-death metal, embellished with progressiveness. Thanks to this approach the music gained some melody and rhythm, therefore cannot be treated as an ordinary death metal sound.
