Detroit-based progressive rockers TILES will have their back catalog reissued in March as part of InsideOut Music's Special Edition series (March 1 in Europe, March 16 in North America).
According to a posting on TILES' web site, “[guitarist and chief songwriter] Chris [Herin] wrote an essay for each Special Edition outlining the details of the recording process, lyrical concepts, and other bits of trivia. The (3) bonus tracks for 'Tiles' are from old demos that [producer] Terry Brown [RUSH, FATES WARNING, VOIVOD] salvaged and recently mixed and are previously unreleased (not counting the 'Standing Pavement' demo cassette). The bonus tracks on 'Fence the Clear' are (2) demo versions of songs later released on 'Presents of Mind', a short acoustic guitar piece, and (1) previously unreleased demo, again re-worked by Terry. And, the 'Presents of Mind' reissue (Europe only!) has (2) songs previously released only on the Japanese version and 10 minutes of bootleg video from our 1999 European tour opening for DREAM THEATER. 'Tiles' has been remastered from the original mixdown tapes and sounds noticeably better. Several alternate mixes were also used. 'Fence the Clear' and 'Presents of Mind' have been remastered from the original 'mastered' tapes and also sound 'better.' All Special Editions have expanded artwork with additional photos, layouts, and liner notes as you can see…”
TILES' fourth album, “Window Dressing”, is tentatively scheduled for a late April release through InsideOut Music. “The 'WD' artwork is 95% finished and we're letting a little time pass to make sure the mixing and mastering are exactly right,” the band write. “So far 'Window Dressing' is penciled in for an April 27th release date but don't hold us to it just yet! Anything can happen…”
The follow-up to 1999's “Presents of Mind” was produced, engineered, and mixed by Terry Brown (RUSH, VOIVOD, FATES WARNING) and features guest appearances by Kim Mitchell (guitar) and Matthew Parmenter (violin).
