GLASGOW GRIN Signs with Year of the Sun Records

Glasgow Grin has signed with Year of the Sun Records for the release of their upcoming debut album “Saints of the Greatest Sin”. Glasgow Grin’s debut is expected to surface in October 2008 and was recorded at Frozen Solid Studios with producer Matt Connell (Ex-Exhumed, Fuck the Facts) and mixed by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me). The group has posted new songs online at www.myspace.com/yearofthesun

“We're excited to be a part of the Year of the Sun family again. They've grown in leaps and bounds since we first signed Dear Black Diary to the label a few years back,” commented Glasgow Grin frontman Jordan Shortt. “When Glasgow Grin was created, it was our goal to avoid all of the mistakes that we made while in Dear Black Diary. Essentially, DBD was a huge learning experience that allowed us to mature and grow. Glasgow Grin is a fresh start for us and with our debut full length we feel we’ve put together an extremely focused project that we feel reflects our growth as musicians. It was very important to us that we come out of our corner swinging this round, and “Saints of the Greatest Sin” packs a powerful punch”.

Glasgow Grin has also revealed that “Saints of the Greatest Sin” will be a concept record based around a serial killer who murders pedophiles.

The album artwork will be based around the concept with the liner notes containing an eight page short story.

“This time around we decided to create an experience that combines music, writing, and artwork into one cohesive tapestry and the result is something that we are proud to share with everyone. Themes throughout the album vary from justifiable homicide to religion, and the album is based around the story of a young man on a murder spree fueled by his faith in God,” says Shortt about the concept behind the group’s debut. “The relationship that the main character shares with God is meant to display how confusion in ideology can create hypocrisy, embracing the Lord on one hand and breaking commandments on the other.”
