Music: Thrash Metal mixed with some Heavy and Black influences
Cool Songs: Midnight At The Graveyard, All Evil, House Of The Raining Blood, Into Purgatory, Born In The Night
For me Witchery is the best Thrash Metal band ever. I can hear voices that I know nothing about Thrash and talking with no sense. Nothing more wrong! Witchery is for me a perfect combination of whole Thrash Metal world. We've got here some from Slayer, a bit of european Thrash, some Gothenburg Death Metal, a lot of Mercyful Fate and much more. But take a look at the songs. They're killing!
The band has some big names as Jensen (The Haunted) or D'angelo (hm… Mercyful Fate, Arch Enemy, ex-Sinergy), but the other musicians aren't worse! The vocalist Toxine sings with a Black Metal type of vocals. The solo guitarist Richard Corpse (nice name!) can't be called amateur. His solos really fit into the music and show him as a great player with invention and technique. And there is of course the drummer- Mique. He is…just drumming. I can't say a bad word of him. The rythym guitars are preety complicated. Thrashy licks are mixed with Heavy riffing and some Mercyful Fate's sound. And Mr. D'angelo. Nothing to say. Great bass player with unbeliveable heavy, metallic sound. And I must confess that I like their lirycs and satanical/graveyard image.
The CD isn't a long one. These songs fly through the speakers faster than you can read a typical Black Metal band's logo :-). But Witchery has got two more albums and an EP so try them too. And if you still aren't convinced, eat this: “I'm the almighty, the King of the kills, Armagedon's father…”!!! Delicious, isn't it?
