ENRAGED „The Presence of Fear”
OLD SCHOOL, OLD SCHOOL, OLD SCHOOL is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear this CD. There are three main influences here and they are SLAYER, MEGADETE, and ANTHRAX.
MEMORIZED DREAMS „Theater of Life”
Memorized Dreams are some new kids on the block from Norway that should be watched. This being there first full length CD is a breath of fresh air for me as a reviewer.
BLIND GUARDIAN „Imaginations Through the Looking Glass – DVD”
This DVD was given to me by a very special friend that is responsible for turning me onto this band and I am grateful that he did. This set was filmed at the first ever BLIND GUARDIAN open air festival held in COBURG GERMANY on June 14th 2003.
SLAYER „Still Reigning – DVD”
What can be said about SLAYER that has not already been said? I reviewed the last DVD release for this band and gave it high marks as I am going to do with this one. This performance here was the firs time that the band had ever performed the REIGN IN BLOOD disc track for track as they appear on the CD as well as six bonus tracks from the same show.
IRON MAIDEN, DIO, MOTORHEAD
August 29, 2003, Columbia, USA
DIO, KINGS X, HAMMERFALL
December 10, 2002, Towson, USA
GEISHA GONER „Cathing Broadness”
This is a polish band that are taking there leads from the thrash masters that we all love like TESTAMENT & MEGADETH. This disc has been out for quite some time and it shows due to the mix and production qualities.
MEATLOCKER SEVEN „The Biological Mechanism of Hate”
This is a disc that got my attention as soon as I heard the first guitar lick. I do not have much info on this band but you can trust me I will be looking this band up for future work.
KREATOR „Live Kreation Revised Glory – DVD”
Well, here it is the first and only KREATOR DVD in the history of the band. It is everything you could expect from a legendary band such as KREATOR and more for this is the limited deluxe package that is limited to 4000 copies world wide and is very hard to get here in the USA but well worth the effort.
TAROT „Suffer our Pleasures”
I am new to this band and this is the first music of this band that I have been able to hear. If first impressions are important then this band has nothing to worry about with me for they have me won over by the third track on this disc.
DREAMTALE „Oceans Heart”
The metal presented here is of a very heave progressive vibe with a lot of keyboards high lighting the songs with dramatic intros as well as souring highs and lows through out the songs. The guitar sound here is crisp and clean without a lot of crunch but played to precision with a very well and tight woven twin attack.
WONDERLAND „Somewhere in my Eyes”
There is not much that I can really say about this band or this CD due to it being just a four song demo. Lets get this thing started by saying that the female vocals on this disc is the most mesmerizing I have ever heard for a female metal singer.
VALIANCE „The Unglorious Conspiracy”
I just don’t know how much more of the fairytale metal I can take. It seems the metal world is overflowing with bands like this.
VENOM „Live from London – DVD”
All hail the creators of black metal. This show was recorded and released in VHS format in 1985 and was one of the first of its kind to be sold.
ICED EARTH „The Glorious Burden”
This is a special treat for me as well as for everyone reading this review for this disc is not to be released till January of 2004 and we get a sneak preview good and early. Lets get this review started by saying that ICED EARTH has had of a face lift by adding a new guitarist and a new singer.
DIMMU BORGIR „Death Cult Armageddon”
DIMMU BORGIR is a band that I am fairly new to due to being very selective with my death metal. Here in the last five to ten years it all has started to run together and sound the same.
DEVILDRIVER „s/t”
This is a disc that caught me be surprise. I have been a huge Dez Fafara fan for years but just thought he was wasting his time with COAL CHAMBER all but the last CHAMBER disc DARK DAYS.
SLAYER „War at the Warfield – DVD”
This dvd has been a long time coming from this band. There is only one true way to experience the onslaught and aggression of SLAYER and that is to experience them in concert.
AGE OF RUIN „The Longest Winters Woes”
Let me just start this review by saying that this band fucking thumps. Age of ruin hails from the Washington, DC area of this great country.
ZENITH „Nadir”
This disc is a demo that was released in 2001 by the band in attempt to land a record deal. Over all the disc is not bad but this band has a long way to go.
WASTOID „Say Your Prayers”
Not knowing much of this band ether might be a blessing in it'self. This disc starts out with a cheese song called long live rock N roll and it sounds like it was recorded in a basement.
WATERSHED „The Unreflective Interest In Action – Demo”
This band took me back a little to a sound I have heard before. This is a four track demo produced by Watershed and Jon Bergqvist.
WHITE SKULL „Tales From The North”
This being a fairly new band to me i went thru the first listen to this disc with a very open mind for I had heard good things about them. Viking metal, I asked myself if it could be done and givin justice and the answer is yes.
WINTERFELL „Winter is Coming”
Winterfell are a band that hail from York Pennsylvania and are a four piece outfit. They where nice enough to send me a copy of there four song demo for review and I am glad they did.
VON KULL „I Am Not Human”
This disc is a 2 song demo from this band. they hail from Delawere.
SALEM „Collective Demise”
Salem are a new band to me but not new to the scene. They have been around in one form ore another since 1985.
SEASON OF FEAR „Horrid Realities”
Season Of Fear are a Four piece band from Baltimore MD that are hard to discribe. When I first put the disc in it was hard to tell what bands they had for influnces.
SEVENTH ONE „Sacrifice”
German power metal has really come to the forfront in the last five years with bands such as Grave Digger, Running Wild, and Primal Fear. The year is 2002 and we now have a very worthy addition to add to the fold in Seventh One.
SHADOWS OF STEELE „s/t”
This is another band that I am hearing for the first time but I am sad to say that it does not catch my attention like others have. I am not saying that this is a but disc by no means other then it needing just a little better production.
SHERINIAN, DEREK „Black Utopia”
This disc has not been on the scene very long but its getting talked about a lot. Not being a huge metal disc this CD still has a lot to offer in the way of sounds.
