FINNTROLL „Ur Jordens Djup”
FINNTROLL is one of those bands that has always escaped me. I've listened to a few tracks off of some of the older records and I just seemingly can't get into them.
ATROPHIA RED SUN „Twisted Logic”
ATROPHIA RED SUN (A.R.S. for the rest of this review) is a Polish band formed in 1995 that plays a fusion of industrial and melodic death metal.
SWALLOW THE SUN „Hope”
SWALLOW THE SUN's “Hope” has been out now for a few months and it took me a while to fully grasp this album. With “Hope”, the listener is guided through the twists and turns of depressive doom coupled with death metal growls and interludes.
MACHINE HEAD „The Blackening”
I felt the need to weigh in regarding this record as I'm seeing many different webzines and media outlets singing high praises about “The Blackening”. Now please don't get me wrong here, I happen to really enjoy this record, but I do because I don't buy into the hype that this will be such an influential work of art and a turning point for (not only MACHINE HEAD) but metal in general.
SOILWORK „Figure Number Five”
So I saw that there was already one review posted for “Figure Number Five” but I felt the need to weigh in. I don't think that our other writer really gave this album any justice whatsoever.
OVERGARVEN „Promo 2005”
OVERGARVEN's start came back in late 2001, then under the name WARFARE. Once realizing that this name was already being used, WARFARE morphed into OVERGARVEN and they produced their first promo in 2003.
THE HUMAN ABSTRACT „Nocturne”
“Nocturne” is the debut release from Los Angeles' THE HUMAN ABSTRACT available via Hopeless Records. Upon my first listen to the opening track “Harbringer”, I was pretty floored at the overall sound and musical experience.
